Sanitizer Testing? 3 Simple Ways To Do It From Your Home

Sanitizer Testing At Home

Sanitizer testing made easy!!!

We hope everybody is staying safe at home. In these COVID times we are often told to wash our hands neatly and/or use a hand sanitizer to disinfect the hands. In this article we have something very serious to discuss with regards to hand sanitizers. When you go to the market and you realize that every shop has got some big fancy hand sanitizers and pumps outside and every time you need to enter a shop the guards outside are spraying your hands with it. But if you observe carefully, what is being sprayed on to your hands most of the time leaves your hands wet and sticky.

So what is it that is being sprayed on your hands? Is it actually a genuine hand sanitizer? Does the hand sanitizer that was used on you actually served the purpose? Because if it is not killing the virus then it is going to put everybody’s life at stake. That’s why there is a need to test the hand sanitizer. But sanitizer testing is not an easy task for a common consumer. It’s an expensive test, which requires gas chromatography and the equipment itself costs over 20 lakh rupees.

So with lots of people jumping in to the business of sanitizer manufacturing and with so many different brands of sanitizers that are available in the market, how do we find the actual truth of the sanitizer? Whether the sanitizer we have bought is genuine or fake? And lastly, is it actually disinfecting the hands? That’s why we have these 3 simple ways of sanitizer testing that can be done from the comfort of your home. Sanitizer testing at home doesn’t really require a lot of things.

There are 3 simple tests that you can actually do at home and find out if the hand sanitizer you are using is genuine or fake.

Test 1: The Tissue Paper Test

Nowadays every house has more than one sanitizer. So take all the sanitizer bottles and a normal tissue paper that we use at home. Use a coin and draw a circle on the tissue paper using a ball pen. Draw as many circles as the number of sanitizer bottles you have, so there is one circle assigned to each sanitizer bottle. Make sure that the circles are not too close. Now put a few drops of the sanitizing liquid that you have on the circle.

If it’s a genuine sanitizer, then the ink is going to spread out. Whereas if the sanitizer is fake the ink is not good to spread. So this is how you test your sanitizer using a tissue paper.

Test 2: The Flour Test

Take any flour available in your kitchen. It can be wheat flour, gram flour or similar. Pour some of the hand sanitizer on the flour and try to mix it nicely. If your hand sanitizer is genuine, it will not mix with the flour. However, if your hand sanitizer is fake, it will form a dough.

Test 3: The Hair Dryer Test

Pour your hand sanitizer in a bowl and blow dry it. A genuine hand sanitizer will dry up very quickly whereas a fake sanitizer will take some time to dry up.

So these are 3 simple tests that you can do at home. So the bottom line is that the truth about the hand sanitizer needs to be found out and everybody needs to know what actually they are using. The hand sanitizer needs to have 70% alcohol to keep everybody safe.

Happy testing!!!
